As a Database SRE Intern, you will support the reliability, performance, and day-to-day operations of critical database environments. This is an excellent opportunity for a curious, detail-oriented learner who wants hands-on exposure to database administration, system reliability practices, and production support in a fast-paced technology environment. You will work alongside experienced professionals to help monitor database health, support structured changes, and contribute to stable, secure database operations.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor database performance, backups, alerts, and logs to help ensure availability and operational stability.

  • Support the turnover of DDL and DML changes into test and production database environments.

  • Help manage database storage, including table spaces, data files, extents, and I/O distribution.

  • Set up and manage physical database data structures such as tables, indexes, clusters, and partitions.

  • Assist with role-based security administration and access control support.

  • Respond to after-hours critical system issues as Level 1 support on an on-call basis, as needed.

  • Perform other duties as required in support of database operations and service reliability.

  • Complete all assigned, mandatory training within the timeframe provided.

  • Conduct and/or participate in regularly scheduled 1:1 meetings with your direct manager and/or direct reports.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) from an accredited four-year college or university, or equivalent.

  • Ability to use SQL to query data effectively.

  • Understanding of relational database management system (RDBMS) concepts.

  • Familiarity with at least one major database platform such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.

  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.

  • Good learning agility and the ability to quickly adapt to new technologies.

  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

  • Willingness to learn, take initiative, and support operational excellence.
