- The Role:This role is for a mid level systems engineer supporting mission critical machine rooms, a lab and a comms room.
- The Person:The person will maintain machine rooms, manage access lists, monitor power, space and cooling, support rack installations and decommissioning, work JIRA tickets, and help with hardware replacements and vendor support.
- Requirements:The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's Degree in a related technical discipline, fifteen years of systems engineering experience, an IAT level II baseline certification, and a Top Secret/SCI U.S. Government security clearance with a favorable Polygraph.

Description
Captivation Software is looking for a mid level systems engineer who will be responsible for multiple Machine rooms of all operational mission critical systems, a Lab and comms room.
Responsibilities
- You will need to maintain all spaces to agency standards, maintain access lists for scan access.
- Monitor and enforce agency requirements for Power Space and Cooling in the rooms.
- Work with Facilities personnel from time to time to stay ahead of the need for PSC upgrades to support newer hardware and customer needs.
- Assist customers with physical installation and decommissioning of racks of servers, network devices, and comms gear.
- Work JIRA tickets from SA/NE teams for hardware replacements – warrantied backfill or escorting vendor support techs into the rooms to work on hardware that is under warranty.
- A typical day will start by catching up on emails and JIRA tickets since you left the day before and working through any issues as well as checking monitoring of machine rooms and walking the floor looking for any alerts or issues.
Requirements
Security Clearance:
- Must currently hold a Top Secret/SCI U.S. Government security clearance with a favorable Polygraph, therefore all candidates must be a U.S. citizen
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in related technical discipline required.
- Fifteen (15) years of systems engineering experience
- IAT level II baseline certification as defined by DoD 8570.01-M
Required Skills:
- Experience in supporting an agency machine room.
- Experience in racking and cabling systems for operational deployments
- Strong communication skills ability to work with small team, customers, leadership, facilities, and Vendors to identify and resolve issues.
- Experience with creating and updating machine room drawings in Viso or similar tool.
- Experience with hands on support for various hardware from key vendors like HP, Dell, Cisco Arista, Juniper etc.
- Experience supporting fiber (looking for breaks testing)
Desired Skills:
- Experience managing/ leading a team in supporting an agency Machine/ Comms room.
- Experience on a System build/deployment team
- Work in an agency or Contractor Lab

Benefits
- Annual Salary: $130,000 - $270,000 (Depends on the Years of Experience)
