About the Role & Program
KABC (ABC7) is an ABC owned television station (OTV) located in the Los Angeles media market. We are one of the most technically advanced television stations in the country! We are at the forefront of the ever-changing media landscape, adding streaming and social channels to our number 1 rated broadcast content. Our offices and studios are located in Glendale, CA.
We are looking for an intern to join our collaborative technical team. You will have an opportunity to participate in developmental programming and contribute to daily operations of a major market television station. As part of our team, you will gain firsthand experience while being immersed in a broadcast technology environment!
The approximate dates of this internship are January 2027 through early June 2027.
What You Will Do
- Network, deploy and troubleshoot computer hardware and software
- Work on preventative maintenance, broadcast automation systems, and IP transmission systems
- Provide resolution and troubleshooting for help desk requests
- Install systems for a variety of technology at the station
- Work on remote productions including remote newscasts, and live community parades
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Previous academic or work experience in television, technology and/or IT processes, troubleshooting and/or problem solving
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Operating Systems
- High attention to detail and experience multitasking in a fast-paced environment
- Must hold a valid U.S. driver’s license. Operating a company vehicle is required for this role.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in basic computer building, imaging and troubleshooting, and/or previous experience in Help Desk support
- Knowledge and understanding of Information Technology, virtual/cloud computing, and/or the media industry
- Familiarity with network devices such as switches, routers, firewalls and/or Microsoft Server Operating Systems
- Familiarity with Adobe Premiere editing software
- Familiarity with broadcast television technical systems such as routers, encoders, storage systems, and automation and/or video transport systems
Education
- Major in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Networking, System Administration, Engineering, Radio/Television/Film, or related field
- Junior or Senior year preferred
Eligibility Requirements & Internship Information
Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:
- Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class at time of application posting OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Possess unrestricted work authorization
- Have not completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or Disney College Program
Additional Information
- Able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship
- The approximate dates of this internship are January 2027 through early June 2027
- Fully available to work 40 hours per week during a Monday through Sunday schedule (hours and days to be determined by your supervisor and could include nights and/or weekends)
- Able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship program
- Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work in the Glendale, California area
The pay rate for this role in California is $18.47 per hour.
