Family Support Practitioner: our view in 3 lines...

  • The Role:This role supports children aged 0 to 5 and their families through early childhood and family services.
  • The Person:The person will provide one-to-one support in family homes, deliver parenting programmes and group sessions, coordinate support with partner agencies, keep written records, and help families achieve positive outcomes.
  • Requirements:The role requires NVQ level 3 or equivalent in Early Years or relevant study area, experience of working directly with children and families, excellent verbal and non-verbal communication, and confidence in IT systems.

About the role

Role: Family Support Practitioner 

Salary: £26,006.84 per annum  

Location: Acle, Norfolk 

Contract/Hours: Fixed Term Contract – Until 30th September 2027- Full time 37 hours per week, part time will be considered.

Interviews to be held on week commencing 19th October

A bit about the role. 

Norfolk's Early Childhood and Family Service (ECFS) supports children aged 0 to 5 and their families through a range of services, including group sessions, parenting programmes and home visits. Working alongside families and partner organisations, ECFS provides information, advice and practical support to help children thrive, with activities covering topics such as parenting, emotional wellbeing and keeping children safe.

 

How you'll help to create brighter futures 

As a Family Support Practitioner, you will play a key role in supporting children and families across Norfolk by:

  • Providing one-to-one support in the family home.

  • Delivering parenting programmes and group sessions.

  • Working with partner agencies to coordinate support and attend multi-agency meetings.

  • Using a strengths-based approach to help families build on what is working well.

  • Supporting children and families to achieve positive and measurable outcomes.

  

Let's talk about you 

We are looking for an energetic and dynamic forward thinking family support practitioner, confident in leading and bringing fresh ideas and inspiration to the role. You will find the full job description attached but the ‘must-haves' are: 

  • NVQ level 3 or equivalent in Early Years or relevant study area. 
  • Experience of working directly with children and families, either individually or in a group setting. 
  • Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication. 
  • The ability to maintain written records to a high standard. 
  • The ability to coordinate referral, assessment, and support. 
  • Confidence in IT systems. 
  • Experience of delivering a parenting programme (desirable). 
  • Access to a suitable method of transport to travel to various settings to carry out your role (essential).
