This role is ideal for someone who enjoys blending backend data engineering, AI-assisted workflows, and custom WordPress development to deliver sophisticated financial insights to a growing subscriber base. You will act as the primary technical owner of the platform, responsible for both backend data systems and frontend delivery. The role blends data engineering, AI integration, and WordPress development to ensure high performance, reliability, and an exceptional subscriber experience. It aggregates, processes, and presents complex financial data—transforming raw datasets into actionable insights for individual and institutional-minded investors.</div><div><br></div><div><strong>The platform combines:</strong></div><div> • Advanced financial data ingestion and transformation</div><div> • AI-driven summarization and querying</div><div> • A polished WordPress frontend with gated premium content</div><div><br></div><div><strong>Core Platform Components</strong></div><div> • Investor Letters & Research Notes – Curated hedge fund communications and deep-dive analyses</div><div> • Conference Coverage – Structured reports and insights from industry events</div><div> • Hidden Value Research – Quarterly publications highlighting equity ideas from leading managers</div><div> • Market Intelligence – Articles on fund strategies, activist campaigns, 13F filings, short positions, and manager profiles</div><div> • Membership System – Tiered subscriptions with premium access, archives, ad-free reading, and exclusive datasets</div><div><br></div><div><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></div><div> • Review and enhance WordPress performance, security, caching strategies, and access control</div><div> • Design and maintain ETL pipelines for large-scale financial datasets using Python and PostgreSQL</div><div> • Build and expose RESTful APIs to power dynamic tables, reports, and data visualizations</div><div> • Develop custom WordPress plugins, themes, and blocks for interactive subscriber features</div><div> • Automate data ingestion, transformation, and publishing workflows</div><div> • Continuously improve user-facing functionality in collaboration with product stakeholders</div><div><br></div><div><strong>Required Skills & Experience</strong></div><div> • 3+ years of professional software development experience (full-stack or backend-focused)</div><div> • Advanced WordPress development (custom plugins, REST API usage, performance optimization)</div><div> • Strong Python background (ETL, APIs, FastAPI) and solid SQL/PostgreSQL knowledge</div><div> • Experience with AWS infrastructure, including serverless services and Lambda</div><div> • Proficiency in JavaScript and frontend libraries for data visualization (e.g., tables, charts)</div><div> • Practical experience integrating AI/LLMs for summarization, NLP, or data querying</div><div> • English proficiency at B2/C1 level with availability for partial EST overlap</div><div><br></div><div><strong>Nice to Have</strong></div><div> • Prior exposure to financial or market data systems</div><div> • Docker and cloud-native workflows</div><div> • Familiarity with hedge funds, value investing, or alternative investments</div>
