This is a contract position through July 31st 2026. Travel is required one week per month plus during go-live.
The LIS Data Innovation Analyst leverages laboratory information system (LIS) data to drive operational efficiency, clinical quality, financial performance, and digital transformation initiatives within a healthcare or laboratory environment. This role combines healthcare domain expertise, data analytics, and innovation strategy to optimize laboratory workflows, improve patient outcomes, and support enterprise decision-making.
The ideal candidate has strong experience with laboratory data, healthcare analytics, and system integration, and is passionate about transforming raw data into actionable insights.
Key Responsibilities
Data Analytics & Insights

Extract, analyze, and interpret LIS data to identify trends in laboratory operations, quality metrics, turnaround times, utilization, and cost performance.

Develop dashboards and reports using BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Qlik).

Perform advanced analyses to support quality improvement, operational optimization, and revenue integrity.

Translate complex datasets into executive-ready insights and recommendations.
Innovation & Optimization

Identify opportunities to leverage automation, AI/ML, and predictive analytics within laboratory workflows.

Support digital transformation initiatives including LIS optimization, middleware integration, and data interoperability.

Collaborate with IT and clinical leadership to modernize reporting capabilities and decision support tools.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
Systems & Integration

Work with LIS platforms (e.g., Epic Beaker, Cerner Millennium, Sunquest, SCC Soft, Meditech) and ensure data integrity across systems.

Support integration with EHRs, billing systems, middleware, and enterprise data warehouses.

Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (CLIA, CAP, HIPAA).
Quality & Compliance

Monitor and report laboratory KPIs including TAT, specimen rejection rates, test utilization, and quality indicators.

Support audits and accreditation readiness through accurate data reporting.

Partner with clinical teams to identify and mitigate risk trends.
Stakeholder Collaboration

Partner with laboratory leadership, pathologists, operations, finance, and IT teams.

Present findings to executive and clinical stakeholders.

Act as a liaison between laboratory operations and data engineering/IT teams.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with Epic Beaker or other enterprise LIS platforms.
Hourly range: $70-$80, plus may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. The hourly range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skills, experience, training, licensure and certifications, practice area, and other business and organizational needs.
