Job Description

ROLE PURPOSE  

 

Connect is looking for a Third Line Engineer to provide Technical services for Internal and External Clients. This role covers a wide range of activities such as Network Design, installation, support, configuration and integration. Individuals will have a broad range of foundation skills together with a chosen a range of specialisations to achieve this level. 

 

 

MAIN DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES  

 

  • Design responsibilities for Network Infrastructure 
  • Creation and documentation of HLD and LLD  
  • Present solution proposals to potential customers and talk knowledgeably about industry best practices for network design and operation 
  • Design and document all aspects of detailed infrastructure solutions including SD-WAN, Routing, Switching and Wireless 
  • Where they do not exist, ensure "As-is" Diagrams and documentation are produced for services 
  • Support and assist with support teams  
  • Producing future architecture documents for services 
  • Driving the production and enforcement of network standards and guidelines 
  • Providing Guidance for Project Resource Engineers 
  • Knowledge Transfer to Peers and development coaching 
  • Operational Incident 3rd & 4th Line Support with Root Cause Analysis 
  • Whilst you will act as a primary point of responsibility for the specific design activities, you will work closely with other stakeholders to ensure a smooth implementation and transition to operations team 

 

 

DESIRABLE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE 

 

  • Proven experience of working within an architect role within projects, providing solution design, project support and delivery of project architecture is essential 
  • Designing enterprise network infrastructure in a medium to large company 
  • Possess or undertake necessary accreditations 
  • BGP, OSPF, QOS, NAT, and general IP routing (including the use of virtual routing domains) and switching 
  • Service provider technologies including but not limited to MPBGP, MPLS, VRF-Lite and Carrier Grade NAT 
  • Connecting/integrating different providers with their own autonomous systems. 
  • Experience in IP addressing on a multiple site/size basis 
  • Experience in Juniper Mist 
  • Extensive experience in working with as much of the following as possible: 
  • Cisco Routing 
  • Cisco Switching 
  • Cisco Wireless 
  • Meraki MX (Routing, Security and SDWAN) 
  • Meraki MS (Switching) 
  • Meraki MR (Wireless) 
  • Zscaler Internet and Private Access 
  • Juniper Junos based Routing and Switching 

 

  • Degree in engineering or related qualification / 5+ years practical experience in a similar role  
  • Experience and formal training on 2 or more of our technology partners portfolios  
  • CCIE/CCNP Certification is a distinct advantage
