Job Description
This role is part of Aon Impact Forecasting team, a team of scientists, developers and client services colleagues together developing and supporting catastrophe models for various perils including flood, windstorm, earthquake, wildfire or terrorism. Junior GIS Analyst at Aon Impact Forecasting We are looking for a new colleague to join our Geospatial Data and Solutions team. We’re looking for someone with some experience or strong interest in GIS and Python, who is eager to learn and grow, to work on mapping products derived from Impact Forecasting’s catastrophe models for (re)insurance. What the day will look like Supporting the preparation and maintenance of geospatial datasets based on our catastrophe models Learning to transform model outputs to meet our data standards and client‑specific needs Helping to prepare and load geospatial data into our underwriting applications and other third‑party tools Close cooperation with other Impact Forecasting teams Skills and experience that will lead to success Degree in geography, geoinformatics or a related Earth science field is an advantage Practical experience processing geospatial data – QGIS or other GIS tools knowledge is required Python or another scripting language (e.g. R or Matlab) is considered an advantage Familiarity with geospatial data formats (especially raster) and willingness to learn Basic knowledge of SQL or databases concepts is a plus Good communication skills, including verbal and written English (some Czech is an advantage as the core team is based in Prague) A technical and analytical mindset, and a willingness to learn new technologies Please note applications are available for candidates with valid work permit in Czechia. 2576976
