We're looking for a senior manager of Enterprise Architecture, audience facing products. This role will lead the architectural practice, and align technology solutions with digital product strategies and overall business goals. Audience facing products are more than frontend technologies. You are helping product teams realize their missions in discovering content, and stay engaged and connected to our digital products. You’ll be at the heart of innovation—working hand-in-hand with product leaders, engineering managers and technical leaders.

CBC/Radio-Canada is the largest broadcaster in Canada and this team is at the very heart of its content creation experience. The Audience Data and Privacy Team (ADaPT) is responsible for building, maintaining and supporting the workflows and tools that allows us to better understand our audience and better tailor content to their individual needs while balancing privacy considerations. We accomplish this by federating content produced by CBC for distribution across CBC’s applications and broadly to content aggregators worldwide, delivering News, Sports, Podcasts, On-demand audio information to thousands of Canadians. We work with a lot of content types and platforms ranging from APIs, GQL, podcast audio files, live stream sporting events to audio content management.

How you will make an impact:
You are an experienced technical manager looking to apply and build your skills in:
-
Partnering with a number of stakeholders, including product managers and directors, technical leadership community, designers, explore architectural and technology needs, using architectural solutions to help define reasonable scope.

Handling and driving key technical decisions for audience-facing products. Effectively working across development teams, technical leaders, business stakeholders within the department and across departments. Leading and facilitating collaborative analysis, solutioning, review and technical decisions.

Experienced in product planning and roadmap by bringing the technology perspective to the process, and championing critical, valuable work.
-
Observe technical leadership gaps, and grow domain expertise.
-
Lead the design of enterprise-wide software architecture that considers functional integrity, scalability, resilience, stability, security and operational excellence while balancing time to market, business needs with long-term growth and health of the digital ecosystem.

Bring industry trends on web and mobile technologies to the department. You educate and advise, bringing teams closer alignment with industry best practices. You have academic interests, yet you are pragmatic in terms of understanding the most impactful applications for certain technologies.

Able to advise on technology investments in the immediate and long term.
-
Build architecture practice that contributes and enhances the discovery process, allowing clarity on deliverables, team dependencies and skills development.
-
Establish and maintain architectural standards including data governance, security and regulatory compliance.
-
Manage architects and maintain a high performance culture, where people are passionate about the work they do.

What you bring to our team:
-
Three or more years of experience in a technical management position. You followed a progressive career from developer to architect. You had experience managing a team with specific missions of more than 2 employees.
-
You are a technical leader, first and foremost. You demonstrate broad knowledge on a variety of architectural / technical domains for audience facing products. You are an expert in web and mobile platforms, and you have demonstrated experience in cross platform technologies and framework. You also have deep knowledge in data integration, personalization, commenting and community practices, authentication, and other services that are crucial to audience experience.

You are experienced in maturing practices. You’ll navigate evolving priorities and sometimes fluid direction, with the opportunity to shape outcomes.

You are knowledgeable in engineering practices: for instance, test strategy, test management and tooling, automation platforms, monitoring platforms, observability strategy. CI/CD devOps.

You have experience leading projects and programs, as well as allocating the right people, or applying the right process to solve problems. You can perform under ambiguity, bringing clarity through discovery, and be able to provide effective solutions..

Possess a degree in engineering (applied science), computer science, science or related discipline, delivered by a recognized university.

Exposure to AI / ML / LLM. You are able to share insights about when to use AI, when not to use AI, and governance requirements.

Nice to have:

Master in engineering (applied science) and related discipline is highly desirable.

Experience in other audience facing platforms, like connected tv’s.

Experience in the media industry.
