  • Requirements: Minimum of 9 years of experience in critical facilities operations or data center engineering and a Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Building Services Engineering are required.

Job Summary

Provides frontline leadership and operational supervision for a team of Critical Facilities Engineers supporting mission-critical data center infrastructure. The Supervisor is responsible for safe, reliable, and compliant operation of electrical, mechanical, and life-safety systems while coordinating people, vendors, and activities across daily operations, maintenance, projects, and incidents. This role plays a key part in ensuring site resilience, availability, and readiness at all times.

Responsibilities

Management

  • Provides direct supervision and leadership for a Critical Facilities engineering team, serving as the first point of escalation for operational, technical, and people-related issues.
  • Assigns, prioritizes, and monitors work activities to ensure safe execution, regulatory compliance, and uninterrupted facility operations.
  • Maintains team schedules, coverage plans, and workflow to support 24x7 data center operations.
  • Manages personnel-related responsibilities including staffing levels, performance reviews, coaching, training, and development planning.
  • Supports hiring, onboarding, and capability building to ensure the team maintains required certifications, competencies, and safety standards.

Project / Infrastructure Site Management

  • Plans, coordinates, and supervises maintenance and infrastructure activities within the data center, balancing operational risk, capacity requirements, and business priorities.
  • Supports project planning and execution by coordinating resources, reviewing work scopes, and ensuring work is delivered safely and to standard.
  • Provides input into site-level budgeting, forecasting, and planning related to maintenance, repairs, and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Oversees site capacity from an operational perspective, ensuring power, cooling, and infrastructure readiness aligns with current and future demand.

Vendor Management

  • Oversees contractor and vendor activities on-site, ensuring adherence to Equinix safety, quality, and operational standards.
  • Reviews work plans, supervises execution, and validates outcomes to ensure work is completed accurately, safely, and in line with approved procedures.

Testing

  • Supports and oversees infrastructure testing activities, including start-up, commissioning, and post-maintenance testing.
  • Ensures test results, issues, and corrective actions are properly documented, reported, and followed through to closure.

Incident Management

  • Acts as a site leader during infrastructure incidents, coordinating on-site staff, vendors, and response activities.
  • Supports investigation, communication, and resolution efforts to stabilize conditions and restore normal operations.
  • Ensures incidents are documented accurately and that lessons learned are incorporated into procedures and future planning.

Typical Degree & Years of Experience

  • Minimum of 9 years of experience in critical facilities operations, data center engineering, or a related infrastructure environment.
  • Prior People Manager experience is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Building Services Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
