We are looking for a Thermal Engineer to work in Boulder, CO supporting our client.


Location: Boulder, CO

Clearance: Top Secret

Salary Rate: $200,000


Thermal design and analysis of
spacecraft and/or precision aerospace electro-mechanical, and/or
opto-mechanical flight 
hardware systems, cryo systems,
antenna communication systems, tactical systems, components and/or ground
support equipment from concept through detail
design and testing 


• Develop thermal loads and
environments for hardware (spacecraft, instruments, etc.) 

o Model extensively in Thermal Desktop
(preferred version 26R2) 

• Modeling tasks may include steady
state and transient thermal math modeling, computation of heat transfer
coefficients, 

and heat flow calculations. Potential
analyses include: 

o Space Vehicle (SV) level thermal
distortion analysis 

o Thermal radiator and heat pipe
sizing/design trade studies 

o High thermal conductivity plate
modeling/design 

o Solar array model development and
analysis 

o SV Heater sizing, design and
placement including control sensor locations 

o Ambient testing analysis 

o General SV level modeling and
analysis 

o Propulsion level design/analysis 

o Propulsion system heater sizing,
design and placement including control sensor locations 

o Battery level thermal analysis 

o Battery heater sizing, design and
placement including control sensor locations 

o Requirements verification 

• Design/develop thermal environmental
tests required to satisfy requirements (in air and/or vacuum) 

• Support thermal environmental
testing 

• Write detailed reports for test and
analysis activities, presentations to customers and/or program team and
development 

of engineering reports and/or test
procedures 

• Review drawings, procedures and
engineering orders for completeness, compatibility, producibility, and
correctness 

• Communicate the technical and
programmatic aspects of a project to the team and customer 

• Promote development of a strong team
by participating in key aspects of a project 

• Lead small teams (up to five
engineers) to design, develop and deliver a thermal control system 

• Work in an Integrated Product Team
(IPT) design environment with other engineering disciplines such as Systems, 

Electrical, Project, Production,
M&P, Quality and Cryogenic Engineering

 

• Responsible for meeting program
cost, schedule, and technical requirements 

• Maintain and update required records
and reports 

• Establish and maintain effective
working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units,
Strategic 

Support Units and the Company.
Interact appropriately with others to maintain a positive and productive work 

environment 

• Work on-site Monday through Friday,
five (5) days per week unless test support requires 24/7 coverage 

2.2 Deliverables 

For each task defined in Section 2.1,
the Seller shall provide the following Deliverables: 

1. Thermal Desktop 26R2 including
*.dwg, *.rco and *.tdp 

2. PowerPoint results summary and
comparison with supporting Excel spreadsheet file 

3. PowerPoint document of modeling
approach, assumptions and model physical attributes (optical properties,
capacitance, 

conductivities, MLI effective
emittance) 

4. For each assigned task, provide an
engineering report defining effort and results
