- The Role:This role is for a staff software engineer focused on cloud security and Google Threat Intelligence.
- The Person:The person will define the technical strategy, roadmap and architecture for the GTI Threat Scoring platform and verdict engine, mentor engineers, partner with security experts, and architect cloud-native microservices for threat intelligence streaming.
- Requirements:The ideal candidate has 8 years of software development experience, 5 years testing and launching software products, full stack development with Java, Python, Golang or C++, and JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML and CSS.
About the role
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience in software development.
- 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products.
- 5 years of experience with full stack development, across back-end such as Java, Python, Golang, or C++ codebases, and front-end experience including JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, CSS or equivalent.
- 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
- Experience integrating generative AI tools or LLM interfaces into workflows.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- 8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
- 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
- 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.
- Experience with statistical classification models, false-positive mitigation, and score calibration.
- Experience leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs) both in production

Responsibilities:
- Define and drive the technical strategy, roadmap, and architecture for the GTI Threat Scoring platform and verdict engine within Google Threat Intelligence.
- Mentor and grow mid-level and executive software engineers in Málaga, creating clarity, protecting team focus, and advocating high standards for code quality, design documentation, and system reliability.
- Act as a key technical anchor across Google Cloud Security, partnering closely with security engineers, threat analysts and domain experts to systematically encode frontline.
- Architect the cloud-native microservices supporting low-latency graph propagation and real-time threat intelligence streaming.
