Job Overview

The Marketing Finance Analyst manages and monitors marketing-related financial activities and expenses. This role supports financial planning, accounting processes, and financial reporting while partnering closely with business teams to ensure accuracy, compliance, and effective financial oversight.

What You Will Do

Expense Management & Forecasting

  • Monitor and manage marketing expenses against budget
  • Prepare and update weekly expense forecasts
  • Analyze actual results and adjust forecasts as needed
  • Create, maintain, and distribute financial reports using Excel

Accounting & Financial Close

  • Support weekly and monthly financial close activities
  • Prepare and record journal entries, including: 
    • Accrued expenses
    • Prepaid expenses
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy and compliance

Accounts Payable & Contract Management

  • Process vendor invoices and ensure timely payment
  • Review invoices for accuracy, coding, and required approvals
  • Respond to vendor inquiries and resolve payment discrepancies
  • Partner with the Accounts Payable team to address and resolve invoice-related issues
  • Maintain the Marketing Finance contract database in Microsoft Lists

Financial Analysis & Business Partnership

  • Partner with marketing, business, and finance teams to provide financial insights and support decision-making
  • Perform variance analysis by comparing actual results to budget and forecast
  • Support seasonal budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning activities

Reporting & Ad Hoc Analysis

  • Prepare recurring and ad hoc financial reports and analyses
  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes, tools, and documentation

Skills You Will Need

Financial Planning & Forecasting: Experience managing budgets, preparing forecasts, analyzing financial results, and adjusting projections to support business objectives.

Accounting & Financial Acumen: Strong understanding of accounting principles, including journal entries, accruals, prepaid expenses, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial close processes.

Financial Analysis: Ability to perform variance analysis, identify trends, interpret financial data, and provide actionable insights to support decision-making.

Excel & Financial Reporting: Advanced Excel skills with the ability to create, maintain, analyze, and distribute financial reports and dashboards accurately and efficiently.

Attention to Detail: Demonstrates a high degree of accuracy in financial reporting, reconciliations, invoice processing, and data management while ensuring compliance with established procedures.

Business Partnership & Collaboration: Ability to build strong relationships across marketing, finance, and business teams, providing financial guidance and support to achieve shared goals.

Communication Skills: Communicates financial information clearly and effectively, tailoring messages for diverse audiences and keeping stakeholders informed through concise reporting and presentations.

Organization & Project Management: Effectively manages multiple priorities, deadlines, and competing demands in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of quality and accountability.

Systems & Data Management: Ability to maintain financial databases, manage contracts, and leverage tools such as Excel and Microsoft Lists to support financial operations and reporting.

Adaptability & Continuous Improvement: Remains flexible in response to changing business needs and proactively identifies opportunities to improve processes, reporting, and documentation.

Results Orientation: Takes ownership of deliverables, consistently meets deadlines, and drives high-quality outcomes through accountability and execution.

Who You Are

  • Candidates with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply. 1-2 years of experience. 

  • This role involves performing essential job functions such as communication, collaboration, and use of office and computer systems. Responsibilities include the ability to access and review written and electronic information, and to move within the work environment and interact with workplace materials as needed to carry out job responsibilities.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
