Key responsibilities

In this role, you act as a design authority for an engineering discipline with low to medium complexity. Completes assignments on small projects or portions of larger projects in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and cybersecurity policies and standards.

This role is contributing to the Naval Converter group within the business area Motion High Power in Hamburg, Germany. Main stakeholders are Project Lead Engineers and Managers associated with the  corresponding Naval Converter projects, as well as the Product Management, but also external customers und subsupliers.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Contribution to the progress of one or more designated projects by solving engineering or development tasks in collaboration with the project team and management

  • Support the product qualification by planning, designing and executing requirement based test within the ABB test facilites or with external partners

  • Creation of a high quality documentation in alignment with Naval Converter processes, project specific rules and external stakeholder requirement

  • Design authority for technical modifications in one ore more engineering disciplines of existing devices up to medium complexity

Qualifications for the role

  • Bachelor or Master degree in an electrical engineering discipline

  • Three years of professional experience preferably associated with power electronics design or production

  • Practical experience of handling low voltage equipment (< 1 kV, < 2 kA) in accordance with safety standards is welcome

  • Hands-on, collaborative and structured style of working

  • Fluent in English
