- The Role:This role is for an early-career process engineer working in manufacturing facilities.
- The Person:The person will research and improve manufacturing processes, set safety procedures, design equipment layouts, monitor production performance, troubleshoot process problems, and document risk analyses and operator instructions.
- Requirements:The ideal candidate has 1-3 years’ experience in an Engineering role, an Associates degree or equivalent experience, experience with Problem solving tools such as 5Why and DMAIC, and PLC experience preferred.
About the role
Position Summary:
A Process Engineer, or Manufacturing Process Engineer, designs and implements systems and equipment procedures used manufacturing facilities. Their main duties include testing and monitoring equipment, updating current system processes, and conducting risk assessments.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Conducting research to develop new and improved processes formanufacturing
- Establishing safety procedures for individuals working with dangerous chemicals
- Developing methods for separating components of gases and liquids or for generating electrical currents
- Designing and planning equipment layout
- Conducting tests andmonitoringthe process performance throughout production
- Troubleshooting problems associated with manufacturingprocesses
- Evaluating processes and equipment to ensure compliance with environmental and safetyregulations
- Estimating production costs
- Documentation of all special characteristics in standard work/operator instructions, in risk analysis (such as FMEA).
- All personnelare responsible forconformity to product requirements andthe authority to stop production to correct quality problems.
- Development of control and monitoring strategies for special characteristics of products and production processes
Education and Qualifications:
- 1-3years’ experience inanEngineering role.
- Associates degree from college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with Problem solving tools (5Why,DMAIC, etc.)
- Able to show strong interpersonal skills including developing a rapport with ease.
- Initiative-taking and execution focusedwithanability to meet deadlines.
- Motivated self-starter who works well independently as well as with a high performing, diversified team.
- Availability for travel
- PLC experience preferred
Work Environment/Work Conditions:
- Professional Office Environment
- Must wear proper personal protection equipment while on manufacturingfloor
- Travel to manufacturing facilities or customer locations whenrequired
- Equipment used requires proper training on the potential for and avoidance ofinjury
