This position requires an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to provide engineering support through owning parts and processes in our component and tooling manufacturing facility. The site specialises in “hot gas path” turbine products – turbine blades, vanes and structures and tooling parts and sub-assemblies.
Role and responsibilities:
• Provide manufacturing engineering support and programming capability for manufacturing processes. These processes may involve EDM hole drilling, Die Sink, Grinding, Milling, Laser and other auxiliary operations.
• Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) engineering activities.
• Provide day to day support for existing product lines and processes.
• Employ continuous improvement methodologies to reduce defects & improve RFT.
• Support the design, delivery and prove-out of tooling & fixturing solutions.
• Technical drawing review, process analysis and quotations.
• Provide technical liaison between engineering and production.
• Create and implement manufacturing documentation/work instructions (ISO9001 / AS9100D /NADCAP).
• Reduce non-conformance through structured & targeted process improvement.
• Own and improve process capability (Cp & Cpk) using data analysis tools e.g. SPC / Minitab.
• Solve problems in a structured manner e.g. 3C / 8D / DMAIC.
Requirements
We are looking for a self-motivated team player with a real passion for engineering.
• Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, industrial or mechanical engineering.
• Ability to read and understand complex drawings connected with aerospace component manufacture.
• Experience with conventional machining tooling and fixtures.
• Ability to understand and articulate 3D geometry to support fixture design and manufacture.
• Knowledge of CAD/CAM packages, ideally NX and/or Inventor.
• IT literate with all Microsoft packages.
