  • The Role: A senior engineering leader role for an experienced Chief Engineer in the luxury hospitality sector responsible for overall engineering, maintenance and technical operations. The role focuses on hands-on oversight of mechanical and electrical maintenance, regulatory compliance, energy management, budgeting and contractor/project management to maintain guest comfort and hotel assets.
  • Requirements: Proven experience as a Chief Engineer or senior engineering position in luxury hospitality and a minimum of five years' hotel engineering operations experience are required. Certification or formal training in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and strong knowledge of UK health, safety and fire regulations are preferred.

Job Description

For the opening of The WestDill Mayfair Hotel London, Colbert Collection, we are seeking an experienced and hands‑on Chief Engineer to take ownership of all engineering, maintenance and technical operations. This role is key to ensuring a safe, efficient and impeccably maintained environment that supports exceptional guest experiences in a luxury setting.

 

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensure full compliance with UK statutory, fire, health and safety regulations, maintaining all required licenses, documentation and safety equipment
  • Plan, manage and personally oversee preventive maintenance, repairs, renovations and minor projects in a hands‑on, solution‑oriented manner
  • Lead all in‑house mechanical and electrical maintenance, ensuring rapid response to maintenance requests and discreet, guest‑friendly execution
  • Monitor and optimize the responsible use of energy, implementing measures to improve sustainability and control energy costs
  • Prepare and manage the engineering budget, controlling departmental payroll and expenditure in line with the hotel’s financial objectives
  • Act as the main point of contact and project lead for external contractors and service providers, ensuring quality, compliance and timeliness
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure guest comfort, asset protection and uninterrupted operation across all hotel facilities

Qualifications

How Can You Succeed in This Role

  • Proven experience as a Chief Engineer or in a senior engineering position within the luxury hospitality sector
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in hotel engineering operations with strong technical expertise
  • Certification or formal training in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred
  • Strong knowledge of UK health, safety, fire and compliance regulations within hospitality environments
  • A hands‑on, self‑driven professional who thrives in a small‑scale luxury hotel environment with high levels of ownership and responsibility.
