  • The Person:Assist engineers by configuring and maintaining routers, switches, and firewalls, supporting private cloud and Linux/Windows servers, contributing automation scripts, and documenting system configurations and procedures.
  • Requirements:Currently pursuing a degree and basic understanding of networking and operating systems with familiarity in Bash, Python, and PowerShell is a plus.

About the role

Overview:

Markley is seeking motivated and technically curious Summer Interns to join our Engineering team. This internship offers hands-on experience in managing and supporting enterprise-grade network infrastructure and systems administration tasks. Interns will work alongside experienced engineers to gain exposure to real-world challenges in a high-availability, mission-critical environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

·       Assist in configuring and maintaining network devices including routers, switches, and firewalls (Juniper, Fortinet).

·       Participate in the deployment and documentation of network and system changes.

·       Help manage private cloud infrastructure and Linux/Windows server environments.

·       Contribute to automation efforts using scripting tools to streamline operational tasks.

·       Document standard operating procedures and technical configurations.

·       Responsible for information security by appropriately preserving the Confidentiality, Integrity,
and Availability (CIA) of Markley Group information assets in accordance with the company's
information security program

 

Learning Objectives

  • Understand the fundamentals of Layer 2/3 networking and dynamic routing protocols.
  • Gain experience with virtualization platforms.
  • Learn best practices in system hardening, patch management, and IT Security
  • Develop familiarity with enterprise monitoring tools and Inventory Systems
  • Improve technical writing and communication skills through documentation and team collaboration.

 

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts and operating systems (Linux/Windows).
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell) is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Eagerness to learn and contribute in a fast-paced environment.\
  • Minimum of 3 days per week in-office presence required.
