- The Role:This is a lead software engineering role for building a platform that combines funeral services, administrative tasks, legal processes, and family communication.

- Requirements:The ideal candidate has software engineering experience, including owning production systems end to end, web stacks React, TypeScript and Node, cloud infrastructure, AI agents, retrieval-augmented systems, strong product sense, and fluent English.
About the role
A Zurich-based startup is building the digital infrastructure for navigating end-of-life and loss, bringing together funeral services, administrative and financial tasks, legal processes, and family communication in one place. Their v0.5 is live with early users, and they're now looking for a senior engineer to lead the development of the next version as their first senior engineering hire and technical owner of the platform.
- Lead the design and development of the next platform version, from architecture to shipped features
- Own the RAG and AI agent layer end to end, including retrieval quality and evaluation
- Set up workflows for effective use of AI coding agents across the team
- Build a security- and privacy-first foundation for handling highly sensitive personal data
- Act as technical authority in customer and partner conversations
- Help hire and onboard future engineers
Requirements
- Software engineering experience, including owning production systems end to end
- Experience with web stacks (React/TypeScript, Node) and cloud infrastructure
- Experience building AI agents and retrieval-augmented systems
- Strong product sense and experience shaping what gets built
- Fluent English
- Advantage: German and familiarity with swiss legal & financial ecosystem
