The Role:This role leads Spotify’s IT Studio engineering organisation across workplace technology, identity, networking, service management and AI tools.
The Person:The person will lead Engineering Managers and about 50 engineers and technicians, set engineering strategy, improve engineering practice and reliability, and partner with leadership and teams across Spotify on technical investments.
Requirements:The ideal candidate has 8+ years of engineering experience, has led engineering Managers across multiple teams, and brings experience with enterprise technology such as identity and access, SaaS platforms, endpoint management, workplace technology, architecture, and AI tooling.

The Platform team creates the technology that enables Spotify to learn quickly and scale easily, enabling rapid growth in our users and our business around the globe. Spanning many disciplines, we work to make the business work; creating the infrastructure, tooling, frameworks, and capabilities needed to welcome a billion customers.

The IT Studio exists to remove the friction of work, unblocking Spotifiers anywhere, anytime, with simplicity and safety. We are the team behind the technology that approximately 8,000 Spotifiers rely on every day, spanning endpoint and device management, identity and access, networking and connectivity, IT service management and support, audio visual and meeting room technology, productivity and collaboration platforms, work management tooling, and the AI tools changing how everyone at Spotify works. Across 9 teams, we touch almost every part of how Spotify functions as a company.

We’re looking for an experienced engineering leader to lead a group of Engineering Managers and approximately 50 engineers and technicians across the studio. You’ll set engineering strategy, strengthen the technical practices that help our teams operate at their best, and partner closely with product and studio leadership to balance engineering investment with business priorities.

What You'll Do

Lead and develop Engineering Managers across multiple teams, supporting their growth while creating clarity around outcomes and engineering excellence.

Set and communicate engineering strategy across the studio, ensuring teams have clear technical direction aligned with IT’s mandate and Spotify’s business needs.

Strengthen technical judgment across the Engineering Manager group, challenging processes that no longer add value and creating more space for architecture, quality, and team capability.

Identify patterns and opportunities across teams and drive improvements in engineering practice, operational health, reliability, and ways of working.

Establish and evolve engineering best practices across the studio, helping teams share knowledge and consistently improve how we build and operate technology.

Champion reliability, security, compliance, and privacy as fundamental parts of engineering decision-making.

Shape how AI is used across the company, both through the tools our squads build and how our engineers work day to day.

Partner with studio and alliance leadership, procurement, legal, engineering counterparts, and teams across Spotify to make thoughtful technical investments and solve meaningful business problems.

Who You Are

You have 8+ years of engineering experience and experience leading Engineering Managers across multiple teams.

You have led engineering organisations at scale and can demonstrate how the technical strategies you’ve shaped have influenced meaningful outcomes.

You bring experience with enterprise technology such as identity and access, SaaS platforms, endpoint management, workplace technology, architecture, or related systems, and can engage credibly in technical decisions across these areas.

You have improved engineering practices across multiple teams and know how to balance developer productivity, operational excellence, reliability, and sustainable technical investment.

You have developed Engineering Managers into stronger leaders and can point to meaningful growth and progression within the teams you’ve led.

You’re excited about how AI is changing the way people and engineering organisations work and have practical experience applying AI tooling or related technologies.

You focus performance conversations on impact rather than activity and can assess contributions across teams producing different kinds of outcomes.

You’re a strategic thinker who can set direction across a broad organisation while staying close enough to the work to contribute when needed.

You communicate complex technical and strategic ideas clearly, build inclusion into how you lead, and can make thoughtful decisions when working through ambiguity.

Where You'll Be

This role is based in London or Stockholm.

We offer you the flexibility to work where you work best! There will be some in person meetings, but still allows for flexibility to work from home.
