EDA Software Engineer: our view in 3 lines...
- The Role:This role is for an experienced software engineer developing electronic design automation tools for semiconductor cell characterization.
- The Person:The person will build a scalable characterization tool, distribute simulation jobs across compute resources, produce and check library files, and expose data through programmatic interfaces.
- Requirements:The ideal candidate has EDA or CAD engineering experience in cell characterization, understands timing, power, and noise characterization methods, and has a solid background with industry-standard circuit simulators.
About the role
About the company
Our client is a semiconductor software company.
The role
Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Own the creation of a core modeling and simulation tool from first principles, covering the compute pipeline, the output files it produces and the interfaces other engineers rely on. Day to day you will balance runtime against precision and explain your reasoning to expert users.
What you'll do
- Build a fast, scalable tool that generates electrical behavior models for logic cells and proprietary blocks.
- Design the layer that distributes circuit simulation jobs across compute resources, using scheduling, parallel runs and statistical sampling to shorten turnaround without losing precision.
- Take charge of producing and checking the library files consumed by downstream timing and signoff tools.
- Partner with optimization and machine learning engineers to decide what data they need and expose it through programmatic interfaces.
- Weigh speed against accuracy in your design choices and justify those choices to expert external users.
Requirements
What we're looking for
- At least 3 years of EDA or CAD engineering experience centered on cell characterization.
- A track record of building characterization tooling, rather than only operating existing tools.
- Prior R&D work on a commercial characterization product at a leading EDA vendor.
- A master's or doctoral degree in electrical engineering, computer science or a related field.
- Thorough understanding of characterization methods for timing, power and noise.
- Solid background with industry-standard circuit simulators.
- Real enthusiasm for circuit modeling and a preference for building tools over simply running them.
- Willingness to work on-site 4 days per week.
- Authorization to work in the US.
Bonus points
- Prior startup experience or an appetite for joining a young company.
- A bachelor's degree paired with comparable hands-on experience building characterization tools.
- Experience using machine learning or surrogate models to speed up characterization.
