The role
Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Serve as the first full-time designer on a very small team, shaping the product experience from early concept through to finished interface. Work side by side with leadership and engineering, build working prototypes in code, and lay the foundations for how design is done as the team grows.
What you'll do
- Set the bar for visual taste, craft and user focus as the first dedicated designer.
- Shape how people collaborate with AI agents, emphasizing trust, transparency and user control.
- Partner directly with senior leadership to develop concepts, discuss tradeoffs, incorporate feedback and ship.
- Build quick working prototypes using AI-assisted coding tools, collaborating with engineers to keep quality high.
- Guide features from a loosely defined problem to a released product, covering user flows, interactions and visual polish.
- Establish and curate a shared library of reusable components, conventions and written guidance as the product grows.
Requirements
What we're looking for
- 2+ years of product design experience, at least partly in an early-stage startup.
- A first-principles approach to designing new workflows where few precedents exist.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating visual taste, interaction craft and rigorous problem-solving on software products.
- Hands-on, regular use of AI coding assistants, with the ability to prototype in code.
- A record of seeing design work through from initial idea to a shipped result.
- Fast learning and rigorous thinking; open to a wide range of seniority.
- Ability to work on-site five days a week in San Francisco, or willingness to relocate.
Bonus points
- Experience designing B2B software or products for business users.
- Background at design-driven technology companies, alongside startup experience.
