About the job

The Staging and Publication (SnP) team owns the shared platforms that Geo teams rely on to stage data, select the best value, and publish updates to MapFacts. Building on this foundation, SnP is developing the core engine for Geo's Hyperfresh Maps efforts: the Geo Signal Synthesis Service (GS3). SnP will lead the core development of this service, which aims to radically reduce the time between acquiring new world signals (e.g., StreetView images, reviews, navigation logs) and making map updates from weeks to minutes. This will fundamentally transform users' expectations for data freshness across roads, businesses, addresses, signs, and road closures.

In this role, your primary responsibility is to work closely with the team in developing and executing the long-term strategy for SnP. This requires establishing relationships with upstream clients within Geo who are looking to migrate their data flows onto GS3, partner teams within the local Geo infrastructure organization who are co-developing the platform’s capabilities, and downstream partners who are consuming the map changes and monitoring data quality. It likewise means learning the Geo infrastructure surrounding SnP, including the teams responsible for developer APIs, operator tooling and tasking, and SRE. Within the team, you will be responsible for collaborating on OKR generation and tracking, career coaching and development, and contributing to technical reviews.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

  • Own the continued health and evolution of SnP’s production platforms that Geo teams rely on, balancing those commitments with new investments and related Geo priorities.
  • Ensure compliance with Geo and Google initiatives around privacy, user safety, and data security.
