Associate Power Applications Engineer: our view in 3 lines...

  • The Role:This role is for an early-career engineer who supports the development and testing of power protection and switching products used in computing and networking systems.
  • The Person:The person will build reference designs and validation setups for eFuse and power-switch products, perform system modeling and power-tree analysis, support customers through design reviews and debug, and create application notes and simulation models.
  • Requirements:The ideal candidate has a BS in Electrical Engineering with a focus on power electronics, experience with high-power or high-voltage systems, understanding of eFuse/Hot-Swap, power-switching devices or power-tree architecture, and familiarity with SPICE, SIMPLIS, MATLAB.

About the role

As an Associate Applications Engineer, you will support the development, testing, and application of onsemi's eFuse, Hot-Swap, and power-switch solutions for AI, cloud computing, networking, and other advanced electronics platforms. Working alongside experienced engineers, you will gain hands-on experience evaluating product performance, developing validation test setups, and helping customers implement onsemi solutions in their system designs.

In this role, you will contribute to power-delivery solutions used in next-generation computing and data-center applications. You will learn how power-tree architectures are designed and optimized, assist with system modeling and characterization activities, and help evaluate protection technologies used to improve system reliability and efficiency.

You will collaborate with applications, design, marketing, and systems engineers to understand customer requirements and support technical solutions using onsemi products. This position offers an excellent opportunity for recent graduates and early-career engineers to develop expertise in power electronics, semiconductor applications, and customer-facing technical support while working with emerging AI and data-center technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Develop reference designs, evaluation platforms, and validation infrastructure for eFuse/Hot‑Swap and power‑switch solutions.
  • Perform system modeling, power‑tree analysis, and protection‑strategy optimization.
  • Support customers with design reviews, system bring‑up, debug, and performance benchmarking.
  • Collaborate with internal design, systems, and marketing teams to shape next‑generation product requirements.
  • Generate technical collateral: application notes, whitepapers, reference schematics, simulation models.

Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical Engineering (focus on power electronics or related field) with 0 -2 years of  relevant experience.
  • Experience with high‑power or high‑voltage systems (48/54V or 400/800V preferred).
  • Understanding of eFuse/Hot‑Swap, power‑switching devices, or power‑tree architecture.
  • Familiarity with system modeling tools (SPICE, SIMPLIS, MATLAB, etc.)
  • Internship, co-op, undergraduate research, and senior design project experience focusing on high‑power or high‑voltage systems are highly valued and may be considered in lieu of professional experience.
  • Strong communication and customer‑facing problem‑solving skills.

NOTE: This position is located in Scottsdale, AZ. Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future visa sponsorship. Relocation assistance is not provided.
