Sr Software Engineer - Commerce LodgingÂ
Â
Job DescriptionÂ
"We Power the Magic!" That's our motto at Disney Experiences (DX). Our team creates world-class immersive digital experiences for the Company's premier vacation brands including Disney's Parks & Resorts worldwide, Disney Cruise Line, Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa, and Disney Vacation Club.Â
We are responsible for the end-to-end digital and physical Guest experience for all technology & digital-led initiatives across the Attractions & Entertainment, Food & Beverage, Resorts & Transportation and Merchandise lines of business as well as other initiatives including MyDisneyExperience and Hey, Disney!Â
This role sits in the Commerce Lodging organization within Technology & Digital for Disney Experiences. It works closely with UI engineering, Quality Engineering, and Product teams from across the company.Â
About The Role & Team:Â
This role is the senior service layer engineer for the Lodging & Resort Sales commerce team, responsible for the APIs that power guest-facing resort booking, modifications, and cancellation experiences across Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort. The team supports multiple concurrent commerce programs and product areas (Disney Add-Ons, Online Modifications, Reservation Cancellation) with a mix of Cast and offshore vendor developers.Â
What You'll Do:Â
- Architect and implement Java/Spring Boot microservices for revenue-critical commerce flows — reservation booking, modifications, and cancellations across guest-facing experiences including Mods Hub, Disney Add-Ons, and Reservation Cancellation for Walt Disney World and Disneyland ResortÂ
- Own end-to-end API delivery from design through production deployment across multi-environment pipelines (Dev → Latest → Stage → Load → Production)Â
- Collaborate with and guide a small team of offshore service developers — assigning work, reviewing code, making architectural decisions, and validating feature completenessÂ
- Design service-oriented architecture including DAO patterns, Feign client integrations, and downstream service connectors for Disney's proprietary commerce ecosystemÂ
- Manage AuthZ scope provisioning, Nimbus and Vault environment configuration, and Splunk and AppDynamics observability dashboardsÂ
- Resolve P1/P2 production incidents across Consumer, Travel Agent, Cast, and TAAP booking, modifications, and cancellation flowsÂ
- Partner with UI, QE, Product, and cross-functional teams to solution technical approaches and unblock deliveryÂ
- Conceive, design, develop, test, and implement software components, fixes, improvements, and/or new systems and applicationsÂ
- Stay up to date with emerging technologiesÂ
Required Qualifications:Â
- Must have minimum 5 years of related work experience (Software Engineering)Â
- Comfortable working in an Agile environmentÂ
- Experience delivering across multiple concurrent workstreams with shared dependenciesÂ
- Experience managing multi-environment deployment pipelines (development through production) including configuration management and environment-specific provisioningÂ
- Proficiency in Java/Spring Boot microservices, RESTful API design and implementation, service-oriented architecture patterns (DAO, Feign clients, service connectors), AWS cloud services, and CI/CD pipelines (Harness), with a proactive demeanor towards continuous learning and skill development, and an interest in mastering emerging software engineering tools and methodologiesÂ
- Proficiency in AI-assisted development tools (Amazon Q Developer, Kiro, GitHub Copilot, Claude) — must demonstrate creative application of AI to accelerate code generation, debugging, testing, and delivery velocityÂ
Preferred Qualifications:Â
- Commerce/e-commerce domain experience (reservations, pricing, order management)Â
- Experience leading or directing offshore/vendor development resourcesÂ
- Familiarity with Disney's internal services ecosystemÂ
Required Education:Â
- Bachelor's or foreign equivalent Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experienceÂ
Preferred Education:Â
- Master's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related fieldÂ
Additional Information:Â Â
This is the sole senior software engineer (service focus) on the team, spanning multiple concurrent programs, product areas (Disney Add-Ons, Online Modifications, Reservation Cancellation), and ongoing sustainment. The role serves as the senior Cast service developer for offshore service developers and contributes to backend API architecture end-to-end — from design through production deployment across Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort. Â
The hiring range for this position in Orlando is $135,200.00- 164,800.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
