About the role

The Senior .NET Developer will support the Texas Education Agency. This role is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing solutions using the Microsoft technology stack and MS Power Platform, with a focus on Power Automate. The candidate will build and maintain web applications, APIs, and front-end interfaces while collaborating closely with business analysts and cross-functional teams. Work includes database design, workflow automation, and reporting through Power BI. The role requires strong technical expertise across the .NET ecosystem, modern front-end frameworks, and Microsoft Power Platform tools. Candidates should be comfortable working independently as well as within a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement software solutions using the Microsoft technology stack, including C#, .NET Core, .NET Framework, and SQL Server Management Studio.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance web applications and RESTful Web APIs using ASP.NET Core.
  • Build front-end user interfaces using Angular and Blazor, and propose architecture for new projects.
  • Design and implement Power Automate workflows and support Power Platform components, including Dataverse and Canvas Apps.
  • Design and implement data models and reports using Power BI to provide actionable insights.
  • Design and maintain database schemas, SQL queries, and stored procedures.
  • Collaborate with business analysts, co-developers, and cross-functional teams to design application architecture and deliver new features.
  • Write integration and unit tests for APIs and front-end applications.
  • Optimize application performance and ensure scalability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application issues and bugs.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • 12 years of proficiency in ASP.NET Framework, including proficiency in ASP.NET Core for building RESTful APIs.
  • 10 years of experience with SQL Server and database design, entity framework, schema design, stored procedures, and SSRS.
  • 10 years of experience with evolving UI technologies starting from HTML, TypeScript, CSS, JavaScript, Angular, Blazor, and React.
  • 7 years of experience with Entity Framework Core for ORM-based database operations.
  • 5 years of strong knowledge of unit testing frameworks and tools, including proficiency in writing unit tests using the nUnit framework.
  • 5 years of strong architecture design skills for implementing projects from scratch, reflected in the last 3 years of experience.
  • 3 years of experience with SSIS packages, cron jobs, schedulers, and background job maintenance.
  • 3 years of familiarity with Angular CLI, Angular Material, RxJS, and Blazor.
  • 2 years of experience with MS Power Platform, including Dataverse, Model-Driven Apps, Canvas Apps, Power Automate, and Power BI.
  • 2 years of familiarity with Dynatrace and Windows Server troubleshooting, including event log review for performance monitoring.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 years of experience with Arc GIS software.

Work Location and Schedule
Location: William B. Travis State Building, 1701 North Congress Avenue, Austin, Texas 78701.
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, excluding State holidays. The candidate may be required to work outside normal business hours on weekends, evenings, and holidays as requested, with pre-approval required for hours worked over 40 in a week.
Work Arrangement: Hybrid, approximately 80% remote with onsite presence required 1 day per week.
