About the role
Position Summary
Multi-Housing Depot is seeking a versatile, hands-on Senior IT Systems & Integration Engineer to support, develop, and optimize the critical technology systems underlying our business operations.
This is an advanced individual-contributor technical role—not a people-management or primary help desk position. It combines hands-on work in enterprise integrations, SQL database development, e-commerce middleware, and script automation with high-level technical oversight and escalation support for server, network, and security infrastructure.
The ideal candidate is a analytical problem-solver who excels at diagnosing complex, multi-system failures, working independently across diverse technologies, and effectively triaging competing operational priorities.
Key Responsibilities
Primary Execution (Hands-On Operations & Development)
-
E-Commerce & Systems Integration: Develop, monitor, and troubleshoot integrations between ERP systems, BigCommerce B2B Edition, and third-party applications using REST APIs, JSON, XML, cXML, and middleware platforms.
-
Database & Business Intelligence: Write, optimize, and maintain SQL Server queries, stored procedures, views, and custom reporting using Crystal Reports or SAP BusinessObjects. Automate data validation, reconciliation, and reporting alerts.
-
Software Development & Automation: Build and maintain custom scripts and diagnostic utilities using Python, PHP, PowerShell, or SQL to automate repetitive business processes and streamline operations.
-
Enterprise ERP Support: Configure and troubleshoot core ERP functions (pricing, purchasing, inventory, order processing, and financials). Investigate application errors and data synchronization issues across systems.
Technical Oversight & Senior Escalation Support
-
Infrastructure & Security Escalation: Serve as the senior technical escalation resource for complex Windows Server, Linux, network (SonicWall, VPNs, DNS), backup, and endpoint security issues that exceed basic tier-1/tier-2 support.
-
Vendor & Project Coordination: Coordinate with external software vendors, middleware providers, and consultants to evaluate, implement, and maintain technical solutions and upgrades.
-
Process Improvement & Documentation: Identify operational bottlenecks, document custom integration logic and standard operating procedures, and design solutions that reduce manual effort and system downtime.
Required Qualifications
-
Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Information Systems (or equivalent practical experience) with a minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible IT experience supporting business-critical enterprise systems.
-
Database Expertise: Advanced proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server (complex queries, CTEs, stored procedures, schema design, and query optimization).
-
Integration & APIs: Practical experience developing and troubleshooting integrations using REST APIs, JSON, XML, and middleware tools.
-
Scripting & Development: Demonstrated ability to write and maintain clean, functional scripts/tools in at least one language (Python, PHP, PowerShell, etc.).
-
Systems & ERP Awareness: Solid understanding of core business operations (inventory, order fulfillment, distribution, pricing) and experience with enterprise ERP architectures.
-
Infrastructure Knowledge: Functional understanding of Windows Server administration, networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, firewalls, VPNs), and security controls.
-
Problem-Solving & Prioritization: Exceptional diagnostic and analytical skills with a proven track record of triaging high-urgency operational outages alongside long-term project deliverables.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Direct experience administering or supporting Epicor Prophet 21 (P21) (or comparable wholesale distribution ERP systems such as Infor, Netsuite, or SAP).
-
Experience with enterprise e-commerce platforms (BigCommerce B2B, Magento) and electronic procurement/EDI/cXML punchout integrations.
-
Experience creating business reports in Crystal Reports or SAP BusinessObjects.
-
Hands-on experience configuring SonicWall firewalls, site-to-site VPNs, Active Directory, and Group Policy.
-
Master’s degree in Information Technology or Computer Science.
Personal & Professional Attributes
-
Technical Versatility: Rapidly adapts to unfamiliar platforms, legacy tools, or new integration standards without requiring step-by-step guidance.
-
Diagnostic Rigor: Approaches troubleshooting methodically—isolating root causes across data layers, API payloads, and network environments.
-
Business-Centric Mindset: Evaluates technical decisions through the lens of business value, user impact, and operational reliability.
-
Clear Communication: Translates technical root-cause analyses into clear actionable recommendations for business leaders and operational teams.
-
Effective Triage: Calmly evaluates competing demands (e.g., an order sync failure vs. a routine feature request) and allocates focus according to actual business impact.
What Makes This Position Different
Rather than siloing you in a single application or managing team logistics, this role gives you direct engineering ownership across custom integrations, databases, automated workflows, and high-level technical troubleshooting. You will solve immediate operational challenges while building cleaner, more maintainable automated systems for the organization.
