About This Job
We're looking for an Intermediate Forward Deployed Engineer to rapidly ship working software that solves real operational problems. This is a hands-on, high-autonomy role: you'll spend time with stakeholders to understand a workflow, then go build — wiring together automations, internal tools, AI-driven logic, and APIs into production-grade solutions, often within days rather than quarters.
You will not be handed fully-specified requirements. You'll partner with product, operations, credit, and business teams to diagnose bottlenecks, propose a technical approach, and deliver an iterative solution — then stay close to the problem to refine it as real usage reveals edge cases.
Responsibilities:
-
Sit with business/operations stakeholders to map current-state workflows and identify where automation, tooling, or AI can remove manual effort or riskÂ
-
Design and build production-grade internal applications and dashboards in Retool for case management, review queues, approvals, and operational visibilityÂ
-
Architect and maintain n8n workflows to orchestrate data movement, notifications, approvals, and system-to-system integrations, including robust error handling and alertingÂ
-
Integrate LLM/AI components (classification, extraction, summarization, triage) into operational workflows, with attention to accuracy, cost, and failure handlingÂ
-
Design and consume APIs to connect internal tools with core banking, LOS, CRM, and third-party systemsÂ
-
Design and manage Microsoft SQL Server schemas — tables, relationships, keys, indexing strategy — for new and existing internal tools, alongside query and stored-procedure optimizationÂ
-
Design, build, and maintain C# API integration layers (REST services, middleware, authentication, data transformation) connecting Retool/n8n to core systemsÂ
-
Own solutions end-to-end: prototype → pilot with real users → harden → document → hand off or maintainÂ
-
Rapidly iterate based on direct user feedback rather than working from a fixed specÂ
-
Identify when a lightweight (Retool/n8n) solution is sufficient versus when a problem needs custom application code, and make that callÂ
-
Review code and designs from junior engineers and help enforce engineering standardsÂ
-
Ensure solutions meet the bank's security, data governance, and compliance requirementsÂ
Qualifications:
-
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experienceÂ
-
3–5+ years of experience building internal tools/automations with Retool, n8n (or similar: Zapier, Make, Appsmith, OutSystems)Â
-
Practical experience integrating LLMs/AI models (e.g., via API — OpenAI, Anthropic, Groq, etc.) into real workflows, not just prototypesÂ
-
Strong SQL skills and comfort designing schemas in Microsoft SQL Server — normalization, indexing, query optimizationÂ
-
Solid, hands-on experience with C# / .NET, both consuming third-party APIs and designing/building internal onesÂ
-
Comfortable working directly with non-technical business stakeholders; can translate a vague operational pain point into a technical spec with minimal oversightÂ
-
Bias toward shipping: comfortable with ambiguity, fast iteration, and being embedded in the business rather than working from a backlogÂ
-
Basic-to-strong scripting ability (Python or JavaScript/TypeScript) for glue code, custom n8n nodes, or Retool custom componentsÂ
