- The Role:This role is for a senior mechanical engineer developing new indoor gas furnaces for buildings and transportation applications.
- The Person:The person will design furnace systems and subsystems, coordinate prototype builds and testing, manage engineering deliverables, and support agency compliance testing and NPD program schedules.
- Requirements:The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, at least 6 years of product development experience, 1-2 years leading NPD programs, and experience with Pro/ENGINEER, CFD, FEA, and Creo.

Monday to Thursday, work onsite with your colleagues. Fridays, choose your work location, balancing what your work requires.
Job Summary:
The Sr. Product Development Engineer works as a member of the Furnace Engineering Team to develop new indoor gas furnaces. The specific responsibilities will include design of furnace systems and key subsystems.
CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to):
• Participation as an active member of the product development team.
• Gas furnace and/or subsystem development.
• Work with design engineers to develop accurate models for analysis using Pro/ENGINEER.
• Scoping and reviewing CFD and FEA analysis.
• Material and component specification.
• Coordination and scheduling of prototype builds and evaluation.
• Development, validation, reliability and field testing.
• Agency compliance testing and listings (UL, CSA, ETL).
• Engineering data/unit attribute creation.
• Mentoring & coaching junior team members in combustion testing & gas furnace design.
• Technical project management & coordination of large gas furnace NPD programs.
• Schedule creation of engineering deliverables
• Work cross-functionally to deliver programs and schedules on time, cost & quality.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering at least 6 years of product development experience.
• 1-2 years experience leading NPD programs is required
• Gas combustion testing in accordance with ANSI Z21.47 & agency testing is preferred.
• Experience developing and testing condensing and non-condensing furnaces is preferred.

• Heat exchanger and/or combustion subsystem analysis and design experience.
• Airflow system design and testing experience a plus.
• Temperature and pressure switches, flame sensor and igniter experience.
• Electrical wiring and/or controls experience a plus.
• Experience with solid modeling design package (Creo).
• Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt or Lean Expert preferred.
Annual Base Salary Range or Hourly Base Pay Range:
$89,585.00 - $124,950.00
