  • Requirements: Experience with MSSQL internals, HA and DR architecture, replication and upgrades plus scripting and automation using Python, C#, Powershell and SQL and familiarity with Jenkins, Ansible and git.

We are hiring a Senior Engineer reporting to the Head of MSSQL Engineering to deliver infrastructure engineering solutions. The Database Engineering team in Global Technology Infrastructure (GTI) is responsible for the design of database products and integrating them with other infrastructure services such as hosting, storage, backup and monitoring.

You will maintain standard builds, implement controls and tools and devise strategies to meet the business requirements of application teams using MSSQL. You will be part of the team acting as the global escalation point for critical MSSQL platform issues.

Your key responsibilities

  • Designing and evolving the MSSQL platform with a focus on performance, resilience, automation, and compliance
  • Delivering production-grade solutions in scripting, automation, and platform tooling
  • Ability to identify appropriate technologies to deliver desired business outcomes and deliverables for MSSQL lifecycle management, from provisioning through operational support
  • Leading technical execution across multiple teams and regions with minimal oversight
  • Collaborating with application and business stakeholders to deliver scalable and secure solutions
  • Providing architectural and technical leadership across enterprise-wide programs involving MSSQL

Your skills and experience

  • Experience in enterprise-scale database engineering on Windows Server
  • Knowledge of MSSQL products including internals, HA and DR architecture, replication, and upgrades. The ability to create and maintain services/scripts which can be used to automate common database administration activities
  • Strong skills in scripting and automation using Python, C#, Powershell and SQL; Jenkins, Ansible, and git are advantageous, as is .NET framework development. Use of Oauth2, EIDP and Certificate based authentication mechanisms
  • Experience developing applications with MSSQL database connections eg OLEDB, ODBC, JDBC
  • Deep understanding of systems infrastructure and integration using AD authentication and authorization, Windows Server, storage, networking, and virtualization
  • Strong communication skills, including ability to influence senior stakeholders across technical and business domains
