- The Role:This role supports Google Cloud customers by resolving technical issues around infrastructure and compute services.
- The Person:The person will diagnose and resolve customer issues, reproduce and root-cause problems, build investigation tools, update documentation, and work with product, engineering, and SRE teams to improve Google Cloud.
- Requirements:The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in STEM or equivalent practical experience, five years of coding experience, system administration experience with Linux/Unix or Windows, and experience with computer networking or web technologies.
About the role
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience writing/debugging code in a general purpose programming language (e.g., Java, C, C++, Python, Shell, Go, JavaScript).
- Experience in system administration with Linux/Unix or Windows systems.
- Experience with computer networking or web technologies (HTTP, HTML, DNS, etc.).
- Experience troubleshooting and triaging technical issues, or advocating for customer needs.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with Cloud Accelerators troubleshooting (e.g., GPU, TPU, etc.).
- Experience with cloud computing via certifications, internships, or coursework.
- Experience working with distributed systems, and familiarity with common solutions, design patterns, or best practices.
- Experience with system virtualization, on-premise, or hybrid cloud computing.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
US: $126000 - $180000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities:
- Manage the customer’s problem through effective diagnosis, resolution, or implementation of new investigation tools to increase productivity for customer issues on Google Cloud Platform products.
- Develop an understanding of Google's product technology and underlying architectures by troubleshooting, reproducing, determining the root cause for customer reported issues, and building tools for faster diagnosis.
- Act as a consultant and subject matter expert for internal stakeholders in engineering, sales, and customer organizations to resolve technical deployment obstacles and improve Google Cloud.
- Work closely with multiple Product and Engineering teams to find ways to improve the product, and interact with our Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) teams to drive high-quality production. Understand customer issues and advocate for their needs with cross-functional teams.
- Be available for non-standard work hours or shifts which may include weekends as needed.
