About the role
The Lead Developer is a technical and people leader whose influence a single team. This role is responsible for tackling complex, ambiguous problems that span multiple teams, designing and leading large-scale initiatives, and setting high standards for technical excellence and collaboration across the organisation along with standard people management responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Innovation
- Design and lead implementation of technical solutions spanning multiple teams
- Evaluate and introduce new technologies that advance Keyloop's platform capabilities
- Serve as a leading voice in cross-cutting concerns (security, performance, scalability, observability)
- Author technical strategy documents for multi-team initiatives
- Drive architectural consistency and best practices across your domain
- Lead proof-of-concepts for emerging technologies and advocate for adoption
- Champion AI-assisted development practices and establish guidelines for effective use of AI tools
- Lead planning and execution of large-scale, cross-team initiatives
- Define clear technical roadmaps that balance short-term delivery with long-term sustainability
- Break down complex, ambiguous problems into actionable plans
- Identify and mitigate major project risks before they become issues
- Ensure successful delivery of complex, multi-quarter projects
- Coordinate technical work across multiple teams to achieve cohesive solutions
- Actively mentor Senior Engineers to grow their technical leadership skills
- Provide technical guidance and architectural reviews across multiple teams
- Lead technical working groups or guilds (e.g., Frontend, Security, Platform)
- Guide teams in discovering and implementing innovative AI-powered solutions to enhance engineering productivity and quality
- Identify and proactively drive technical initiatives that aren't assigned but are crucial
- Build consensus around technical decisions across teams
- Elevate engineering standards and practices within your domain
- Define career path for direct reports
- Performance Management
- Conducting regular 1-1 and feedback management
- Leave Management and resolving conflicts.
- Identify the upskill requirements and ensure team members get all necessary trainings.
- Hire and retain talent.
- Communicate compelling technical visions that motivate multiple teams
- Write influential, high-quality design documents adopted by multiple teams
- Present technical strategies to Directors and senior stakeholders
- Facilitate productive technical discussions across team boundaries
- Translate complex technical concepts for various audiences
- Build strong relationships with Staff Engineers in other domains
- Develop strong understanding of business strategy for your domain
- Identify new technical opportunities that could create significant business value
- Propose technical solutions that unlock new product capabilities
- Quantify and communicate the business impact of technical debt
- Partner with Product to ensure technical strategy enables product vision

What We're Looking For
- 10+ years of software engineering experience with progressive technical leadership.
- Demonstrated experience in successfully leading complex technical initiatives across multiple teams.
- Experience designing and implementing large-scale distributed systems.
- Demonstrated proficiency in addressing complex technical challenges even when requirements are not fully defined.
- Excellence in written and verbal technical communication.
- Demonstrated impact beyond immediate team boundaries.
- History of successful mentorship of senior engineers.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools and methods.
