The Junior R&D Engineer will be responsible for supporting the design, development, and testing of data science prototypes and proof-of-concept solutions within LATRO's R&D function, contributing to initiatives spanning fraud detection, revenue assurance, and fintech control automation, including LATRO's Agentic Analyst Framework platform and related analytics projects. 

The Junior R&D Engineer reports to the Director of R&D and Solutions Architecture, and collaborates closely with the R&D Lab team on data science, prototyping, and applied AI initiatives. 

The Junior R&D Engineer is based in Amman, Jordan. 

 JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 

•  Support the development of data science prototypes and proof-of-concept models that address business challenges and opportunities across fraud management, revenue assurance, fintech, customer analytics, operational optimization, and other data-driven use cases. 
• Assist in data collection, cleaning, transformation, and exploratory analysis across structured and semi-structured telecom and fintech datasets.  

• Help build, test, and iterate on machine learning and analytics components under the guidance of senior R&D team members.  

• Contribute to the evaluation and validation of model outputs against business and technical requirements.  

• Participate in documenting technical approaches, experiments, and results to support knowledge sharing within the R&D Lab.  

• Support integration of prototypes with existing platforms and tools, working within established architecture and data governance practices.  

• Stay current with emerging techniques in data science, machine learning, and AI, and propose relevant applications to ongoing projects.  

• Collaborate with team members across R&D, product, and engineering to translate business problems into technical experiments. 

JOB SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS 

• Bachelor's degree (recent graduate) in Computer Science, Data Science, Telecommunications Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.  

• Solid foundation in Python and familiarity with common data science libraries (e.g., pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn).  

• Working knowledge of SQL and comfort handling data from relational or document-based databases (e.g., MongoDB).  

• Basic understanding of LLMs and Coding Assistants. 

• Basic understanding of machine learning concepts and statistical analysis.  

• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving mindset, with genuine curiosity for data-driven investigation.  

• Good written and spoken English; Arabic is a plus.  

• Eagerness to learn, take initiative, and grow within a small, hands-on R&D team.  

• Prior exposure to telecom, fraud/risk analytics, or fintech domains through academic projects or internships is a plus, but not required.
