About the role
We are looking for a Senior Linux Engineer to support enterprise Linux infrastructure within a large-scale Data Centre Migration programme. The role focuses on Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Oracle Linux administration, production stability, troubleshooting, performance optimisation, automation, and migration activities across business-critical, high-availability environments.
Responsibilities
• Administer, configure and maintain enterprise Linux server environments
• Support Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Oracle Linux environments
• Support application platforms hosted on Linux infrastructure
• Prepare and configure environments required for migration activities
• Support infrastructure builds and migration execution
• Monitor system performance, capacity, reliability and availability
• Diagnose and resolve Linux infrastructure and operating system issues
• Analyse performance problems and identify root causes
• Support patching, upgrades and maintenance activities
• Automate repetitive operational activities using scripting and configuration management tools
• Support networking, load balancing, TLS and connectivity related troubleshooting
• Cooperate with application, middleware, security and infrastructure teams
• Support production changes within formal change management processes
• Maintain technical and operational documentation in Confluence
• Support knowledge transfer and operational handover where required
Requirements
• Advanced commercial Linux system administration experience
• Strong hands on experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux and/or Oracle Linux
• Experience supporting large enterprise production environments
• Strong Linux troubleshooting and performance analysis capability
• Experience supporting application platforms running on Linux
• Strong Bash scripting skills
• Experience with Python scripting or automation
• Experience with Ansible and/or Rundeck
• Good understanding of IP networking and infrastructure concepts
• Understanding of load balancing and TLS
• Experience working within structured operational processes
• Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills
• Ability to work closely with multiple technical teams
• Good English communication skills
