  • The Role: Provide behaviour support assessments and evidence-based support plans for NDIS participants while working with families and carers in the disability sector.
  • The Person: Conduct assessments, develop and deliver evidence-based positive behaviour support plans, coach carers and families, and mentor less experienced practitioners within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Requirements: A degree-level allied health qualification and report writing experience are required along with time management and organisational skills to manage a caseload.

Job Description

Ability Action Australia's Alexandria team are looking for Behaviour Support Practitioners of all experience and suitability levels in Ryde, North Sydney, Alexandria or Inner West. Whether you are just starting your Behaviour Support career or have suitability levels Core, Proficient or Advanced, we want to hear from you! 

In this role you will:

  • Assisting NDIS participants, along with their families and/or carers, to identify their needs through assessment and person-centred planning
  • Evaluating, developing and delivering evidence-based support plans within a complex support space
  • Developing meaningful goals and practical strategies utilising a positive behaviour support framework, and with a commitment to eliminate restrictive practices, in the home and community
  • Ensuring individual plans reflect our NDIS participants' goals, passions and strengths
  • Building the knowledge, capacity and strengths of those who support participants in their lives - family, carers, friends, etc
  • Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, including mentoring less experienced Behaviour Support Practitioners

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A degree level qualification as an allied health professional 
  • Report writing experience
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills to manage a varied caseload
  • Proactive attitude, motivated by improvement and the opportunity to test and learn from new ideas
  • Genuine passion for working in the disability sector
