Product Quality Engineer, Hardware: our view in 3 lines...

  • The Role:This role is for an experienced hardware quality engineer focused on manufacturing quality in consumer electronics.
  • The Person:The person will lead manufacturing and product quality systems, set up and qualify quality control processes, run risk assessments, analyze quality data, and drive yield improvement and failure analysis.
  • Requirements:The ideal candidate has a technical background, at least 5 years of hands-on working experience in the consumer electronics industry, familiarity with DFM, DFMEA, PFMEA, MSA, PPAP, SPC, and CQE certification.

About the role

As a Product Quality Engineer at Meta, you will take responsibility to ensure that the product produced in the manufacturing site meets the requirements defined by the team, covering product cosmetic, function, and reliability. You will take responsibility to make sure the proper quality control system is in place from incoming to shipping. You will do so by taking ownership in the product development stage to identify the potential process/product risks and work with the engineering team for risk elimination. You need to develop an efficient quality control and monitoring mechanism in the manufacturing site to make sure the deviation in the process is under control as well as the product's outgoing quality.

Responsibilities

  • Local owner of all manufacturing and product quality, and Quality Systems within the CM factories
  • Lead quality control system setup and qualification in the FATP factory, including: incoming materials, in-process (including SMT and FATP), Outgoing Quality Control process, Out-of-Box Audit, RCCA process
  • Conduct a risk assessment and closed-loop follow-up for the FATP process by coordinating cross-functional teams for improvement
  • Determine quality KPIs and quality improvement parameters by identifying statistical methods relevant to manufacturing and product quality inspection processes; analyze the data by completing hypothesis testing, normal distribution analysis, and process capability analysis
  • Develop Product Quality Plans, inspection procedures, and sampling plans by applying attribute, variable, and sequential sampling methods within CMs and suppliers
  • Support cross-functional teams during Product Development, NPI, or Launch stages by providing input on product design, quality, manufacturing, and reliability-related issues
  • Establish statistical confidence by identifying sample size and acceptable error, and determine confidence levels to drive production ramp readiness and shipment readiness decisions
  • Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data; make recommendations to Design, Test, Process, and Manufacturing Operations for manufacturing and product continuous improvement strategy
  • Lead combined teams (Ops, Design, CM) in corrective actions (DFMEA, FMEA) focused on product quality and customer experience improvements
  • Design and lead FATP manufacturing and supplier selection, qualification processes, and audits
  • Lead yield improvement efforts
  • Drive early field failure analysis activities: troubleshooting and complete closed-loop follow-up
Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, quality engineering, or a relevant field
  • A technical background or a quality or process engineering background
  • At least 5 years of hands-on working experience in the consumer electronics industry, covering the processes from incoming to shipping
  • Familiar with DFM (design for manufacturing), DFMEA, PFMEA, MSA, PPAP, SPC, and sampling plan definition
  • Ability and experience interfacing at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to articulate a vision, independent decision making, and convey a sense of urgency
  • Experience working in cross-functional team environments with shifting priorities and multiple concurrent work streams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in high-volume consumer electronics manufacturing
  • Ability and experience interfacing at all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
  • Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
  • Experience working effectively in cross-functional team environments with shifting priorities and multiple concurrent work streams
  • Experience independently driving quality improvement initiatives and communicating priorities to stakeholders
  • Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
