  • The Role:This role is for a junior software engineer focused on debugging secure embedded systems based on RISC-V architectures.
  • The Person:The person will help develop, test, verify, document and maintain debuggers for secure embedded microcontrollers and investigate issues reported by customers or found in tests.
  • Requirements:The ideal candidate has programming skills in C/C++/python, understanding of embedded software development tools such as gdb or OpenOCD, and knowledge of microcontroller architecture.

About the role

In this role you will be able to strengthen our expertise in debugging and related tools for secure embedded systems based on RISC-V architectures, supporting the NXP design teams.

Your Responsibility:

  • Collaborate with senior colleagues on the complete life cycle specification/development/test/verification/documentation/maintenance of debuggers for secure embedded microcontrollers.

  • Build up expertise for trace and code coverage in the context of secure embedded microcontrollers

  • Interact with internal HW and SW development teams (customers) to analyse/fix issues reported by customers or detected by tests.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of software development, quality, and testing methodologies.

Your Profile:

  • University degree in electronics, applied mathematics, computer science or similar.

  • Understanding of embedded software development tools, e.g., gdb (The GNU Debugger or OpenOCD).

  • Knowledge of microcontroller architecture know-how is essential.

  • Programming skills in C/C++/python languages.

  • You are a team player, and you are able to efficiently communicate with colleagues across different technical domains, locations, and cultures.

In addition, some knowledge of the following skills would be highly beneficial:

  • Assembly programming

  • RISC-V

  • JTAG interfacing and debug targets – e.g., FPGAs

  • Trace and code-coverage

  • Rust programming

Please note: The successful candidate may/will be responsible for security related tasks. The assignment may/will be in scope of security certifications, therefore a conscious and reliable way of working is necessary.
