The role
Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Move machine learning and autonomy software from a workshop into live outdoor operations. Look after the reliability of installed systems, the data flows that feed them and the code running on customer equipment, partnering with colleagues on the ground.
What you'll do
- Maintain the health of a large set of installed systems by troubleshooting offline units, reading logs and coordinating with colleagues at customer locations.
- Create dependable data infrastructure that carries information from the device to the cloud and onward to annotation and model training workflows.
- Oversee in-house and outside annotation teams and assess the quality of newly trained models.
- Develop control software for self-operating equipment and surface its data in dashboards that customers can see.
- Spend time in a hands-on workshop and make occasional trips to customer locations to install hardware and implement solutions.
Requirements
What we're looking for
- At least 2 years of experience in a deployment-focused, forward deployed or broad software engineering role on autonomous or robotic systems.
- A history of releasing software into higher-risk physical settings where people work nearby.
- Hands-on experience building data ingestion and cloud transfer pipelines plus integrations for hardware-based products.
- High agency and comfort owning difficult problems from start to finish in a small, fast-moving team.
- Willingness to help with some weekend workshop work.
Bonus points
- Background at an early-stage company, or in robotics, heavy equipment, self-driving vehicles or deployment-focused software.
- A strong academic background in a relevant technical field.
