Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 6:30am - 3:00pm (40hrs per week)
Work Term: Winter 2027; 4 Months (Jan. - Apr.) or 8 Months (Jan. - Aug.)
Compensation
At S&C, we are dedicated to providing competitive and equitable compensation for all our team members, with a commitment to transparency in our pay practices. The hourly pay range for this position is $22.70 - $36.40. Individual pay within this range is determined by several compensable factors, including the year of study, type of academic program, and the number of prior co-op work terms completed.
Join Our Team as a Production Engineering Assistant - Day Shift (Co-op)!
The Production Engineering Assistant is responsible for developing and maintaining standard work documentation by capturing and outlining current process steps to support consistency and operational efficiency. Additionally, they will conduct root cause investigations to identify and address issues impacting the Fabrication department's performance and productivity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create standard work documents to capture existing process steps.
- Gather, refine, analyze and monitor data to help with establishing baselines.
- Perform Root cause analysis for issues affecting Fabrication department.
- Assist in implementing lean initiatives.
- Lead and participate in problem solving activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
What you’ll Need To Succeed:
- Currently enrolled in a registered post-secondary co-op program in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Understanding of manufacturing operations. Past CNC or familiarity would be considered an asset.
- Eligible for a 4-month or 8-month placement for the Winter 2027 Co-op Work Term.
- Keen eye for details, Excellent with Data capturing and analysis.
- Ability to multi-task with flexible to business needs, including time management.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Physical demands:
• Standing: All tasks are performed in a standing position with intermittent walking.
• Lifting: Frequent lifting of items ranging in weight from 5 lbs to 20 lbs.
• Walking: Occasional walking moderate distances (less than 1km).
• Carrying: Frequent carrying of items ranging in weight from 5 lbs. to 20 lbs.
• Pushing: Occasional pushing of motorized material handling carts with loaded weights up to 1000 lbs.
• Pulling: Occasional pulling of motorized material handling carts with loaded weights up to 1000 lbs.
• Bending: Frequent bending and crouching to safely lift parts of various sizes and shapes.
• Reaching: Continuous full range of motion from above the shoulders to below the knees.
• Handling: Continuous handling of parts ranging in weight from 5 lbs. to 20 lbs.
