About the role
At Safewill, we’re transforming estate planning and end-of-life services through beautifully simple, accessible technology.
Backed by investors including King River Capital, Westpac’s Reinventure Fund, Carthona Capital and Flying Fox Ventures, we’re building a digital ecosystem that makes estate planning more affordable, more personalised and more relevant for modern Australians.
As we grow, strong risk and compliance practice is part of how we look after our customers. Now we're looking for an Risk & Compliance Analyst to join the team behind it.
This is a role where you'll learn how risk and compliance really works inside a fast-moving legal-tech business, with room to take on real ownership as you grow.
The Role
You'll join our Risk & Compliance team early in your career and build a strong foundation in risk management, regulatory compliance and operational governance. Day to day, you'll support our compliance monitoring and testing, keep our ISO and SOC 2 obligations on track, and help turn incidents into improvements. Much of the early work is hands-on and operational, and it's the best way to learn how everything fits together.
You'll work with people across the business, including Product, Customer Experience, Technology, Finance and Legal, helping embed good practice so that compliance is part of how we work, not an afterthought. You'll learn from experienced risk and compliance professionals, and the more you take on, the more ownership you'll get.
What You'll Work On
-
Monitor and test compliance. Support monitoring and testing against our regulatory obligations, including privacy, consumer law and legal services regulation.
-
Support our ISO and SOC 2 frameworks. Help monitor and report on our compliance framework, and keep us audit-ready by maintaining accurate records and coordinating internal audits and reviews.
-
Take incidents through to resolution. Log, triage and track compliance and privacy incidents, and support root-cause analysis and remediation plans.
-
Build compliance capability. Help design, schedule and deliver staff training on topics like privacy and our code of conduct, and track completion.
-
Prepare reports, dashboards and papers for internal stakeholders and governance committees.
-
Research and track regulatory changes relevant to our products and operations, and keep policy and procedure documentation current.
About You
You're curious, careful and keen to learn fast. You like getting the details right, you're comfortable with data, and you want to build a career in risk and compliance.
We're likely to be a fit if you:
-
Take a methodical, detail-oriented approach and enjoy working through problems carefully.
-
Communicate clearly in writing and in conversation, including explaining what's needed to people outside compliance.
-
Are comfortable working with data to spot patterns and report on them.
-
Handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
-
Are proactive, and ask questions to learn quickly.
-
Have a degree in law, business, commerce, finance or a related discipline (or equivalent experience), and one to two years' experience in risk and compliance or a related field, ideally in financial services.
-
Are interested in legal-tech or the estate planning space (a plus, not a requirement).
It's a bonus if you also have familiarity with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles, experience using AI in a risk and compliance function, experience supporting incident management or breach response, or experience helping design or deliver staff training.
