Purpose of the Role

As a Vehicle Launch Engineer, you will work cross‑functionally with teams across the wider business to coordinate the smooth launch of new vehicle models, variants, and model year changes into production. You will play a hands-on role in ensuring that all quality, cost, timing, and volume targets are achieved from early prototype builds through to series manufacture.

This role is critical in bridging prototype development and full production, providing first‑hand technical support on the shop floor while embedding the Client's brand values, craftsmanship, and performance standards at every stage of the launch.

You will also support wider business needs as required, including providing production support during periods of peak demand or planned absence.

What You’ll Do

As part of the New Model (NM) Technician team, you will:

  • Understand and follow detailed work instructions related to the construction, painting, and assembly of vehicles.
  • Ensure all station operations are completed to the required quality standards and within defined cycle times.
  • Work collaboratively within small, highly skilled teams to define, investigate, and resolve issues affecting vehicle quality, cost, or productivity.
  • Support the development and launch of future client vehicle platforms and derivatives.
  • Provide hands-on input into:
    • Vehicle assembly process development across all assembly disciplines
    • Specification and development of bespoke assembly tools and fixtures
    • Identification and specification of generic hand tools for prototype and production phases
  • Assemble prototype vehicles during development and prototype build phases.
  • Generate, document, and support root cause analysis of vehicle build concerns.
  • Support vehicle and variant launches into series production, ensuring a smooth transition from prototype to manufacturing.
  • Train and support production build technicians to enable successful knowledge transfer from prototype to production.
  • Maintain excellent attendance and timekeeping, informing your Team Leader promptly of any lateness or unplanned absence.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy, and organised work area in line with brand and audit expectations.
  • Actively contribute to a safe working environment, participating in safety initiatives and continuous improvement activities.
  • Clearly understand and always adhere to Client brand values.
  • Provide production support during peak periods or holidays as required by the business.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will bring a mix of hands‑on technical expertise, launch experience, and a passion for high‑performance vehicles. Preferred experience includes:

  • Minimum NVQ Level 2 in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair or equivalent qualification.
  • Ideally experience working within a niche or premium vehicle manufacturer.
  • Previous involvement in:
    • Prototype vehicle builds
    • New model or variant production launches
    • Build concern reporting and resolution
    • Process and product maturation activities
  • Familiarity with quality measurement systems (e.g. Faro arm usage).
  • Experience working to demanding deadlines and launch timing constraints.
  • Comfortable working in small, cross‑functional teams within a fast‑paced environment.
  • A proactive, detail‑focused approach with a strong commitment to quality and safety.

Additional Information

Initial 12 month contract with possibility for extension.

This is a unique opportunity to be directly involved in the launch of world‑leading performance vehicles, combining hands‑on engineering with cutting‑edge manufacturing processes.
