- The Role:This role is for an engineering student contributing to reliability work for autonomous aircraft development at a defense technology company.
- The Person:The person will support environmental and stress testing, investigate hardware failures, analyze test and field data, contribute to FMEA and design reviews, and help develop corrective actions and reliability improvements.
- Requirements:Candidates should have completed at least the second year of a relevant degree, bring strong technical fundamentals, have engineering team or club experience, and have experience with Altium, KiCAD, an oscilloscope, and Python.
About the role
* Support environmental and stress testing efforts (e.g., temperature cycling, vibration, HALT/HASS) to validate hardware reliability
* Assist in failure analysis and root cause investigations for manufacturing non-conformances and field returns
* Analyze test results and field data to help identify potential failure modes and reliability risks
* Collaborate with design engineers to incorporate design-for-reliability best practices
* Participate in design reviews and FMEA activities to evaluate potential issues
* Support development of corrective actions and process improvements to enhance hardware reliability
* Assist in reviewing materials, manufacturing processes, and component selection for reliability considerations
* Utilize data analysis tools (e.g., Python) to support reliability assessments and reporting
* Work cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and supplier teams
* Travel occasionally to support testing or supplier engagements as needed
Requirements:
-
Have completed at least the 2nd year of a relevant degree. Typically, Mechanical, Materials, or Reliability engineering.
-
Strong technical fundamentals.
-
Have been part of an engineering team/club.
-
Experience with design software and tools such as Altium, ANSYS Mechanical, SolidWorks, etc
-
Hands-on experience with materials characterization equipment including SEM, microscopes, CT, FTIR, DSC, and others.
-
Demonstrated history of showing ownership of project outcomes and delivering exceptional results.
-
Record of working hard, being a trustworthy teammate, holding yourself and others to high standards, and being kind to others.
