Job Description
The Enterprise Data Steward plays a key role in advancing enterprise data governance initiatives by partnering with division-level data stewards to improve data quality and consistency. This position works closely with business stakeholders to guide stewardship activities, develop key documentation, and prepare datasets for enterprise data quality measurement. The role emphasizes collaboration, training, and hands-on support to build data literacy and ensure alignment with organizational data standards.
Responsibilities
Data Stewardship & Governance
- Coordinate and support assigned data stewards across divisions
- Facilitate regular check-ins to monitor progress and align on priorities
- Guide the development of data artifacts such as data dictionaries, business rules, and scoping documentation
- Prepare datasets for data quality measurement within governance tools
Training & Enablement
- Deliver training and coaching on data management principles and stewardship practices
- Promote data literacy and consistent data handling across teams
Collaboration & Communication
- Serve as the primary liaison between business divisions and the enterprise data program
- Facilitate discussions with non-technical stakeholders to drive data-related initiatives
- Partner with system owners and subject matter experts to resolve data issues
Operational Support
- Ensure adherence to established data governance frameworks and standards
- Maintain organized documentation and track stewardship activities across divisions
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience with productivity tools such as Excel, SharePoint, and Teams
- 8+ years of experience in data management, data quality, and data stewardship
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to guide non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to coordinate cross-functional activities and manage multiple priorities
- Must be able to work onsite in Richmond, VA at least 3 days per week
- Must physically reside within the United States for the duration of the assignment
- Must be able to attend an in-person interview
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship, now or in the future
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience with Collibra or similar data governance tools
- Experience developing data dictionaries, business rules, or related documentation
- Background in enterprise data governance or business-facing data roles

This is a 1099 Contract role.
$58 – $78 per hour
