- The Role:This role is for a senior data engineer building data pipelines, infrastructure, and reporting to support data-driven decision-making.
- The Person:The person will build and maintain data pipelines, data models, reporting and dashboards, support production issues, improve data quality and automation, and work on security and best practices.
- Requirements:The ideal candidate has 4-6 years of relevant work experience, strong SQL skills, SQL Server data integration and ETL development, cloud-based data platform experience, and preferably GCP, Looker, dbt, and Python.
About the role
The Sr Data Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines, infrastructure, and data visualization to support our data-driven decision-making processes. The scope of this job includes collaborating with data scientists, analysts, solutions partners, and other stakeholders to increase data quality, accessibility, and security.Â

Key Responsibilities:Â
- Create, develop, maintain, and leverage data pipelines, data models, reporting, and dashboards on GCP and BigQuery to solve business problems or assigned tasks in coordination with multiple teams.Â
- Develop and maintain semantic models and reporting in Looker (LookML) so business users can answer questions without writing SQL.Â
- Support operational data pipelines by troubleshooting and resolving production issues, including file processing failures, data quality anomalies, and integration errors.Â
- Enhance and document workflows for complex data-related challenges by identifying patterns, trends, and anomalies in the data, and find ways to optimize data processing and storage to promote data quality through automation.Â
- Develop understanding of different WellSky solutions and become a subject matter expert in the healthcare domain.Â
- Identify opportunities in code reviews and contribute to the development of best practices and coding standards.Â
- Adhere to WellSky core values, ensure PHI data security, and adapt to changing BI technologies.Â
- Leverage AI tools and platforms as an integral part of daily responsibilities to enhance decision-making, streamline workflows, and drive data-informed outcomes.Â
- Perform other job duties as assigned.Â

Required Qualifications:Â
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experienceÂ
- 4-6 years of relevant work experienceÂ
- Strong SQL skills with hands-on experience developing and supporting data pipelines and data warehouse solutionsÂ
- Experience with SQL Server data integration and ETL development (including SSIS or equivalent)Â
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms and services, preferably within GCP environmentsÂ
Â
Preferred Qualifications:Â
- Direct Looker and LookML development experienceÂ
- Experience with DBT for ELT/ETL processes, data modeling, testing, and documentationÂ
- GCP expertise, especially with Cloud SQL, BigQuery, and DatastreamÂ
- Experience with data replication tools such as HVR, Datastream, or Fivetran (or similar CDC/replication technologies)Â
- Experience supporting BI/reporting environments such as Looker or Tableau through well-modeled, performant datasets, including migrating reporting from one BI platform to anotherÂ
- Git-based development workflow, including pull requests, code review, and CI/CDÂ
- Python for data engineering, tooling, and automationÂ
- Healthcare industry experienceÂ

- Willing to work additional or irregular hours as needed to support scheduled data loads, releases, and time-sensitive production issuesÂ
- Must work in accordance with applicable security policies and procedures to safeguard company and client informationÂ
