Lead AI Engineer (f/m/x) – Agent Development – CB Data and AI

Role Overview

As a Lead AI Engineer (f/m/x) at Deutsche Bank, you will design, build, and operate production‑grade AI agents on the firm’s centralized AI platform. You will own end‑to‑end delivery of agent‑based solutions—from use‑case design through production deployment—while ensuring compliance with regulatory, security, and audit requirements. The role is hands‑on and delivery‑focused, working closely with platform, data, risk, and business teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement AI agents executing complex, multi‑step workflows using LLMs, including RAG, tool orchestration, validation, and guardrails.

• Deploy and operate agents on Deutsche Bank’s enterprise AI platform; integrate with agent registries, runtime environments, and observability frameworks.

• Enable secure agent interaction with enterprise data sources while adhering to data classification, lineage, and usage constraints.

• Ensure agents meet Model Risk Management and regulatory expectations, including explainability, reproducibility, and full auditability.

• Apply enterprise security controls, identity and access management, and secure API integration.

• Establish testing, observability, and operational support for production agents, including continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications

• Several years of professional software engineering experience (distributed systems, APIs).

• Strong hands‑on programming skills (Python and/or Java preferred).

• Proven experience delivering AI/ML applications in production environments.

• Deep understanding of LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG architectures, and agent design patterns.

• Experience with Google Cloud Platform is required.

• Strong knowledge of secure system design and enterprise data handling.

• Practical experience with agentic AI frameworks including tool/function invocation, planning, state management, and guardrails (Google ADK, LangChain), MCP and A2A protocols, and deployment on Vertex AI.
